1. Training
1.1. Swimmers should attend as many training sessions as possible. The Club expects a minimum attendance of 75%. The Welfare Officer should be contacted for any non-attendance due to illness.
1.2. Swimmers should be signed in at reception and be on poolside with hats and goggles in place at least 5 minutes before the start of each training session. Light stretching is encouraged to reduce the risk of injury.
1.3. All necessary equipment should be brought to each training session, hat, goggles, fins, kick board and pull buoy. The correct swimwear should be worn i.e. tight fitting costumes, trunks, jammers etc.
1.4. All swimmers are required to wear a hat in training. If a hat is forgotten a spare will be provided, however if this continues to happen, a new hat will need to be purchased.
1.5. It is important to keep hydrated during the session, a drink of water in a plastic bottle is needed.
1.6. Medication should be brought to the attention of the Head Coach. For specific conditions such as asthma, inhalers should be on poolside at all times.
1.7. Swimmers should only enter the water when instructed to do so by their lane coach, and in a safe manner.
1.8. Listen carefully to the coach at all times and observe their instructions, do not distract other swimmers whilst the coach is giving instructions.
1.9. Swimmers must respect the property of others and the equipment provided by the Club.
1.10. Swimmers should ask permission to leave the water. If feeling unwell at any time, inform the coach immediately.
1.11. Swimmers should do their best in all training sessions and try to participate fully from beginning to end. Those who do not try, disrupt others or behave in a manner that is not considered appropriate will be asked to leave the session.
1.12. No food or glass bottles are allowed in the changing rooms or on poolside. Drinks may be taken poolside in plastic bottles.
1.13. Swimmers are reminded that the leisure complex is open to the public for other activities, not just the swimming club. Courtesy should be shown at all times to members of staff and the public.
1.14. Any form of bullying, verbal or physical, whilst in the pool, changing rooms or any part of the leisure complex, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Any swimmer who experiences a bullying incident should contact the Welfare Officer.
2. Galas
2.1. Behaviour and conduct must be of a high standard at all times and reflect favourably on the Club. The Clubs reputation at galas depends on the way swimmers behave.
2.2. Swimmers must arrive at galas in good time and report to the coach, start cards must be posted before the time stated. Any swimmer arriving late or not posting their start cards in time may not be allowed to swim.
2.3. Any swimmer representing the Club at galas must wear the Club kit, the hat when racing, the t-shirt on poolside, and the tracksuit top. These are available to purchase.
2.4. Observe the rules of any gala and swimming pool that you attend, and observe the authority and decision of the officials.
2.5. Treat other teams, competitors, coaches and officials with respect.
3. Parents
3.1. Parents should make every effort to ensure their children arrive at the pool in adequate time to participate at the very start of a training session.
3.2. Parents are responsible for supervising their own children in the changing rooms or any other part of the leisure complex.
3.3. Young children aged 8 and under must have a parent present within the leisure complex. If this is not possible, please ensure the coaches are notified on all occasions if a responsible adult will not be available, and that a current emergency telephone number is on file.
3.4. The Club asks that parents do not interrupt the coaches but save any questions for the end of the session.
3.5. It is important that information on all medical conditions or allergies be declared to the Club on the membership form as well as emergency contact numbers. Any changes to these must be notified to the Club as soon as possible.
3.6. Parents are asked to collect their children promptly at the end of the training session.
3.7. Parents are required to pay monthly lane fees by direct debit to ERYC. Membership fees are paid annually at the start of the year and are non refundable. Children will not be permitted to swim if fees are not paid up to date.
3.8. All holidays or absences for any length of time should be advised to the coach or a member of the committee. Any absences for a period of 4 weeks or more without notification may result in your childs place being in danger. Fees are still payable at these times.
3.9. The Club should be advised in writing of any resignation. Fees remain due until such a letter is received by the committee
3.10. Please ensure your child abides by the rules. Failure to comply with these rules could lead to disciplinary action being taken. The Head Coach will issue a verbal warning in the first instance; any further incidents will be reported to the committee of the Club who shall take further action as is deemed necessary.
