Beverley Barracudas Swimming Club is a competitive club formed in October 2006. Any child who has reached Club Start Grade 8 or above, and would like to take the next step into competitive swimming, can apply for membership of the Club. Training sessions are held every Saturday and Sunday between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at Beverley Leisure Complex.
New member trials are held twice a year in January and July. These allow the Head Coach to assess swimmers and if offered membership, allocate them to a training group appropriate to their standard.
The Club is run entirely on a voluntary basis and all swimmers, coaches and parents should feel that they are an important part of the Club; we aim to promote good sportsmanship and a good team spirit.
Once swimmers have achieved the necessary standard, they are expected to take part in the Club’s competitive programme, from local galas to county events and hopefully beyond.
East Riding Club Accreditation Scheme (ERCAS)
There are a number of important issues for parents when choosing a sports club for their child to attend, such as:
* Will my child be safe?
* Will the coaches be qualified?
* If my child is good, will they have the chance to become better?
Accredited clubs can answer yes to all these questions! An accredited club is one who has worked towards a series of standards to prove that they can provide a safe, child friendly environment for young people.
ERCAS is an accreditation scheme from the Sports Development Service which enables clubs to set and meet standards which will lead to better quality sports provision for young people in the East Riding. It`s aims are to recognise the quality of services that clubs offer and to improve the quality and safety of the club`s infrastructure.
Clubs who have achieved accreditation in line with ERCAS can demonstrate they have the following policies and procedures in place within their organisation:
* Qualified coaches
* Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) Disclosure checked coaches and volunteers
* First Aid requirements
* Health and Safety procedures
* Child Protection policy and procedures
* Skill and development progression
